Senior Army Officers on Commander's Instructions Visit Differently Able War Heroes at Wellness Centres

A group of Senior Officers, including Major General Jagath Gunawardene, Chief of Staff, coincident with the Army Commander's visit to the 'Abhimansala-1' at Anuradhapura, undertook separate visits to the Ranaviru Sevana in Ragama, Mihindu Seth Medura in Attidiya, Abhimansala-2 at Kamburupitiya and Abhimansala-3 at Pangolla respectively to inquire the wellbeing of differently able War Heroes under recuperation and rehabilitation at those wellness centres on account of the forthcoming Army anniversary.

On Wednesday (30), Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army, to be coincident with the 71st Army Day, together with the Chief of Staff visited the 'Abhimansala-1' wellness centre in Anuradhapura.

Simultaneously, a separate delegation of Senior Officers, headed by Major General Jayashantha Gamage, together with Major General Thilak Hangilipola, General Officer Commanding 14 Division, Brigadier D.P Jayasinha, Director Welfare, Brigadier A.K Rajapaksha, Deputy Director Welfare and few senior officers visited the Ranaviru Sevana Ragama and gave presents to the inmates this morning (30).

In the meantime, another delegation, headed by Major General Chandana Marasingha, Master General Ordnance, Major General Adeepa Thilakarathane, Chief Signal Officer, Brigadier Srinath Ariyasingha, Director General Infantry, together with few senior officers visited the inmates at Mihindu Seth Medura.

Subsequently, one more delegation, led by Major General Sanjaya Wanasingha, General Officer Commanding 61 Division, Brigadier Keerthi Kottawatta, 613 Brigade Commander and few senior officers visited the 'Abhimansala 2' in Kamburupitiya and interacted with those inmates.

Another delegation, headed by Major General Nishantha Herath, Director General Training of Army Headquarters, Brigadier Sarada Samarakoon, General Officer Commanding 11 Division and few senior officers visited the 'Abhimansala 3' at Pangolla and gifted the inmates.

During these visits, the delegations spoke to the inmates, inquired into their well-being and their family members, requirements and other needs before they were awarded gift parcels.
