Secretary Defence General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne together with Secretary to Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, Director General Civil Security Department Major General Ranjan Lamahewa (Rtd), Military Liaison Officer Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, Deputy Inspector General of Police in Ampara Mr Senevirathna, Director General of Archaeology Professor Anura Manathunga, Buddhist Media Channel Chairman Ven Boralande Vajiragnana Thero and Senior Officers from Navy Air Force and the Police on Friday (15) undertook an inspection tour to the historic ‘Deegawapiya Stupa’ restoration project.
After the field visit, the group sat together and reviewed the project and discussed matters pertaining to its ongoing restoration work and inquired into possibilities of expediting the project.
