All Chief Coordinators, District Secretaries, Medical Officers of Health, Senior Police Officers and all stakeholders, engaged in the control of COVID-19 epidemic in the Eastern province on Tuesday (26) at the Batticaloa District Secretariat discussed the status quo, transmission patterns, preventive measures, adherence of the public to health guidelines, conduct of quarantine centres, distribution of vaccines, shortages or lapses, etc during a meeting, headed by General (Retd) Kamal Gunarathna, Secretary Defence and General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
All District Chief Coordinators, nominated by HE the President for coordination of all COVID-19 preventive measures presented the meeting with separate accounts as regards respective developments and control measures in Polonnaruwa, Ampara and Batticaloa districts and additional preventive steps that should be adopted in its control mechanism.
Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, SFHQ-East, Major General Thilak Weerakoon, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Division, Major General Samantha Silva, GOC, 22 Division, Brigadier Nalin Koswatta, GOC, 23 Division, Brigade Commanders of the Security Forces - East, Naval heads of Eastern Theatre, Air Force Heads of the Eastern Province, and senior Police Officers were among the attendees.
