Secy Defence, CDS & Army Comd, Service Commanders and acting IGP attend 2nd Phase of ‘Utthama Pooja’ War Veterans' Mobile Service

The 'Ranaviru Seva Authority'-organized Mobile Welfare service for tri forces, Police and Civil Security Department veterans who retired, medical boarded out War Heroes and family members in the general area Anuradhapura district was held this morning (3) at the Regimental Centre Gajaba Regiment (GR) at Saliyapura.

Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunarathna, Secretary of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID- 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), together with Navy Commander, Air Force commander, Acting Inspector General of Police graced the arrangement.

Respective and responsible Directorates in all tri services, inclusive of the Army, Directorate of Pay and Records, Directorate of Welfare, Directorate of Veteran affairs, Directorate of Rehabilitation, etc jointly assisted the mobile project where issues related to those former veterans and their family members were taken up for discussion and resolution.

Meanwhile, the awarding of the ‘Uththama Pooja Pranama’ Medals symbolically for those veterans and dedicated families took place at the same occasion for a limited number of recipients and the rest of those accolades were to be awarded in the district on a staggered basis. After patient hearing, a fair number of their issues were given solutions or processed during the arrangement.
