Security Forces (West) Proudly Marks Its 12th Anniversary

Security Force Headquarters (West) commemorated its 12th anniversary on 18th and 19th November 2024 with an array of events at the Security Force Headquarters (West) premises in Panagoda under the gracious participation of Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West) as the Chief Guest.

In par with the 12th anniversary, a Bodhi Pooja programme was organized on 18th (Monday) at the Army Bodhirajaramaya Temple - Panagoda with the participation of the Commander, Security Forces (West), to involve the blessings for the staff, their families and the fallen War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

On the morning of the 19th (Tuesday), a formal Guard Turnout to the Commander Security Forces (West), was accorded by the troops from the 1st Field Engineer Regiment and he subsequently received the salute from the ceremonial Guard of Honour. The Commander Security Forces (West), was warmly welcomed by Brigadier B.P G.K Balasooriya RSP psc, the Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier K.L Munasinghe USP, the Brigadier Admin and Quartering at the entrance.

Following the day’s military customs, the West Commander posed for a group photograph with All Ranks adding the day’s importance to its unique memory lane.

Subsequently, the Commander Security Forces (West), remembered to add value to the day by planting a sapling in the SFHQ (West) premises. Afterward, a special welfare programme was launched donating 36 dry ration packs to the civil staff of Security Forces (West) by the Commander Security Forces (West), followed by a tea party to appreciate their unwavering services towards the headquarters.

Afterward, Commander Security Forces (West) participated in the All Ranks lunch with the staff of SFHQ (West) including the civil staff.

Subsequently, the West Commander took time off to address the troops on this special day and commended the staff for their enthusiastic contribution to achieve the common goal of the organization.

General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division, Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ (West), Brigadier B.P.G.K Balasooriya RSP psc, the Deputy General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier W.M.L.S Dayawansa, Brigadier Administration and Quartering of Security Forces (West), Brigadier K.L Munasinghe USP, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, Other Ranks, and civil employees of Security Forces (West), were present at the anniversary event.
