The traditional ‘Katina Pooja’ at the historic Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai was held on 18 - 19 October 2024, under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent, Venerable Ginthota Nandarama Thero.
The event was conducted by Security Forces (Jaffna) and Logistics Command, under the guidance of Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna), with support from the Navy, Air Force, Police, and Special Task Force.
The programme began with Pirith Chanting on 18 October, followed by a ceremonial procession on 19 October where the Katina Cheevaraya was offered to the Maha Sangha. The event also included the offering of Heel Daana and Atapirikara to 30 monks.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
