Security Forces (East) Conduct Survey to Prevent Damage from Wild Elephants

The Security Forces (East), in collaboration with Wildlife and Civil Organisations, conducted a survey on 2nd January 2025 aimed at mitigating damage caused by wild elephants to paddy fields and safeguarding local communities.

The survey covered Dimbulana, Mahawelithanna, Suriyawewa, and Parakrama Yaya, an area encompassing 5,000 acres of paddy cultivation and 400 families. Under the leadership of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, Commander of the Security Forces (East), and Brigadier W.S.R Kumara USP ISC, Project Officer of the Security Forces (East), the initiative seeks to address the escalating human-elephant conflict and promote sustainable solutions for both agriculture and wildlife conservation.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Government Officials, and civilians participated in this programme.
