Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces -East laid the foundation-stone for construction of a new house for a deserving woman soldier, resident in Welikanda area on Thursday (28 December 2023).
The Resident Project Manager at Welikanda Mahaweli Authority, Mr Sugath Senevirathne at her request allocated a land patch of 20 perches for the project as her parents are living in the area. The much-needed financial support was provided by Mr. Gengasuthan Mylvaganam at the request of the Commander, Security Forces-East.
Mrs Nayomi Ranaweera, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch also joined the foundation-stone laying ceremony for construction of the new house to this woman Lance Corporal serving the Security Force HQ-East (SFHQ-East).
Troops under the SFHQ-East will undertake the project, providing manpower and technical expertise for construction of the proposed house. The event was attended by Senior Officers, Officers of the Security Forces - East, and other invitees.
