Troops of Security Force Headquarters - East coordinated a livelihood support programme to assist needy farmers in Kokkadicholai, Batticaloa on 13 January. The initiative aimed to employ multiple approaches to address the challenges faced by farmers and enhance their income levels. Throughout the program, farm animals, farming equipment, and financial support were provided to selected farmers in collaboration with 'The Interfaith Coalition for Peace' and "Shraddha Social Service Unit" of the Shraddha TV Channel.
As part of this effort, a ceremony was held at ‘Mahamevna Asapuva’ in Kaduwela, during which 16 dairy cattle were distributed to 6 farmers from Kokkadicholai. This support was made possible through the collaboration with the ‘Shraddha Social Service Unit – Abayadana Punya Project’.
This event was conducted under the guidance of Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF -East). On behalf of the Commander, SF -East, Civil Affairs Officer extended his profound gratitude to Mr Prasad Binuwara, CEO, Shraddha TV Channel and all his staff as well as the generous supporters of Venkadawatha Vijithawansha thero of ‘Abayadana Punya Project’ who selflessly contributed their hard-earned wealth for this worthy initiative.
