Secretary Defence Evaluates Progress in Keeramalai Housing Complex

Expecting to get a first hand glimpse of the status quo of the Keeramalai Housing complex, now under construction for 100 displaced families in Jaffna, Secretary Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi accompanied by Additional Secretary - Parliamentary & Civil Affairs Mrs Wasantha Perera, District Secretary for Jaffna Mr N. Vethanayahan, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and several authoritative state officials, paid a visit to the construction site this morning (2).

Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces – J (SF-J) , the manpower provider for the project after welcoming the visitors presented a briefing on the current finishing touches and the programme through which potential recipients were selected in close collaboration with respective civil authorities and Grama Seva officials. Ministry of Resettlement through the District Secretariat provides funds to the completion of the project.

The group of visitors closely inspected the houses now nearing completion and made inquiries into different aspects of it during their stay inside the complex. The project is to be ceremonially opened and vested in the deserving recipients shortly.

They are also expected to attend the closing ceremony of the National Sports Festival, now in full swing in Jaffna.
