School Donations Distributed in Jaffna

In another community welfare project under the Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) programme, the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), organized a donation of school items for needy children in Point Pedro area on Sunday (12). 

With the intention of enhancing the reconciliation programme in the Jaffna peninsula, Lieutenant Colonel Harischandra Mayasinhe, Civil-Military Coordinating (CIMIC) Officer at the SFHQ-J supported the Old Anandians’ Group in ‘75/’80 to organize the donation in collaboration with the Cargills Bank. 

A total of 600 students at the Government Tamil Mixed School, Ketpely, Sivaprakash Vidyalaya, Melepuloly and Roman Catholic School received those school accessories with stationery items.  

In the meantime, fulfilling a long-term requirement of the Kulamangal Roman Catholic Vidyalaya, a water pump was donated to the students as a gift by same donors.

Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) was the day’s Chief Guest together with Buddhist monks, Hindu and Catholic priests, several senior Army officers, members of the Old Anandians group 75/80, Cargills Bank members, Officials at the Zonal Education office at Vadamarachchi, Principals, teachers and students of the schools.
