Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku Wins Silver and Sets World Record at Paris Paralympics

Warrant Officer II Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) achieved a notable feat by winning a silver medal in the men's F44 javelin throw event on 2 September 2024 setting a new world record with a throw of 67.03 meters, breaking the previous record in his category.

Indian athlete Sumit Antil won the gold medal with a throw of 70.59 meters in the F64 category marking Sri Lanka, second in Paralympic medal following his world record performance at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

His performance stands out as one of the greatest achievements by a Sri Lankan athlete in Paralympic history. He is also the only Sri Lankan to have secured a medal at the 2024 Paris Games so far.
