Rugby Training Takes Root in Jaffna

Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) recently organized a rugby training programme for both Jaffna teachers and students.

The training session was organized with the aim of popularizing the sport among sport lovers in the peninsula and imparting knowledge on rules and regulations of the play.

Nearly 120 students and 23 teachers of leading schools in Jaffna attended the training programme held on 14th and 15th instant at Durayappa ground. A separate session was organized on Saturday (16) at St. Anthony’s ground in Kayts for students and teachers in the islands.  

The programme was conducted by National coach of Sri Lanka Rugger Control Board Mr. Sanath Martin and Committee Manager of Rugger Development Coaches of Japan, Mr. Takasi Obara.

Jaffna coaches also joined the national and Japanese counterparts to train players.
