RRC Turns 4 Years Old

Ranaviru Resource Centre (RRC) at Hendala, dedicated to train physically-handicapped War Heroes and potential Army retirees for different vocations turned 4 years old on 24th May 2017.

Giving prominence to religious programmes, the inmates on the directions of the RRC Commandant launched a week-long project in connection with its 4th anniversary.

The first project started with a Bodhi Pooja at Kelaniya Rajamaha Vihara and a Shramadana (self-help) community work to clean the Elders’ Home premises at Katana before the military formality with a Guard Turnout took place at RRC, in which the Commandant, Brigadier W.H.M Manathunga was saluted.

On the same day, the Commandant added memories to the occasion by planting a sapling in the RRC premises before he joined an All Rank tea after sitting for a group photo with everyone.

As the final leg of the anniversary commemoration, all the inmates, together with their commandant listened to a Dhamma sermon, delivered by a famous orator in the RRC auditorium. A 10-member group of Buddhist monks on the following day partook of alms, offered by RRC organizers, bringing anniversary events to culmination on 24 May.

As at present, the RRC provides training programmes in repair of electric appliances, aluminum productions, landscaping, mobile phone repairing, computer repairing, hair styling, three wheeler repairs, etc.
