Rotarians of Malaysia in Jaffna Learn about Army Community Roles

A team of Rotarians from Malaysia, comprised of 16 Rotarians from Rotary District 3030 (Malaysia) currently in Sri Lanka at the invitation of their Sri Lankan counterparts on Friday (Jan 20) visited the Security Force Headquarters -Jaffna during their visit to Rotary District 3220 of Sri Lanka.

The Malaysian delegation was warmly welcomed by Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) with Brigadier Dhammika Karunapala, Brigadier General Staff (BGS), SF-J on their arrival at the Headquarters premises.

Afterwards, the delegation had a discussion on current Army engagements and its commitment to the well-being of the people, and promotion of civil-military cooperation in the Jaffna peninsula with a special focus on reconciliation moves through various development projects.

The Commander, SF-J, Brigadier General Staff (BGS) SF-J, and Senior Officers attended the discussion with the delegation.

After the discussions, the delegation headed by Mr Jerry Daniel, the Chief Executive Officer visited the “Ambalama” building at T-Junction where English Language classes for low-income students are held. The visitors gifted a stock of school accessories and books to those children learning English and others before an interactive session with the students at the Government's Tamil Mixed School in Palaly got underway.

During their field visit to Jaffna, the delegation visited several Army establishments and exchanged their views with respective authorities on ongoing civil community-oriented projects.
