Retiring Major General Shantha Rajakaruna Accorded Military Salute at His Regimental HQ

The farewell ceremony for Major General Shantha Rajakaruna, Commandant, Ranaviru Apparels Yakkala, was held at the. Gemunu Watch Regimental HQ in Kuruwita on the occasion of his retirement after completion over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

Centre Commandant, Brigadier Roshan Jayamanna welcomed the Chief Gust and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the entrance and accompanied him to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour in the parade square. Afterwards, he recalled the gallantry of fallen War Heroes at the monument by placing a floral wreath and also joined a sapling planting programme.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Highlander for his commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch and wished him a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.

Then the Chief Gust was accompanied to the customary dinner at the Officer’s Mess as dusk fell. Major General Chula Abeynayake, Commander of Security Forces - West and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, delivered the usual farewell speech on behalf of all Officers of the Gemunu Watch to extend their deep sense of gratitude and appreciation to Major General Shantha Rajakaruna.
