Retiring Major General Lalith Daulugala Accorded Military Salute

Gajaba Regiment (GR) on Friday (22) bade farewell to one of its senior officers, Major General Lalith Daulugala, Colonel of the Regiment, GR who has rendered an exemplary service to both the organization and the country during a formal military ceremony at his Regimental Headquarters, Saliyapura on the eve of his retirement from the Army.

The day’s programme kicked off after Major General Lalith Daulugala on arrival paid tribute to the fallen GR War Heroes at the GR War Heroes Monument.

Afterwards, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by GR troops saluted Major General Lalith Daulugala at the Parade Grounds after he was warmly welcomed by Brigadier Ranjan Lamahewa, Center Commandant,GR.

The charming military parade was then reviewed by the outgoing Major General Lalith Daulugala, accompanied by the Parade Commander in accordance with military traditions. 

A tea party at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess and a get-together of officers and GR Seva Vanitha members at the Officers’ Mess culminated the day’s proceedings.

Mrs. Saroja Daulugala, outgoing Chairperson, GR Seva Vanitha Unit also attended the get-together.

Meanwhile, the newly-built Officers’ Mess at the Gajaba Regiment was ceremonially opened by the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, GR Major General Lalith Daulugala.

At the end of the events, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment was presented a memento by Major General Sumedha Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ – C), GR on behalf of all the officers and other ranks.

Major General Sumedha Perera, Commander, SFHQ – C and Colonel of the Regiment Special Forces (SF), together with several senior officers, Mrs. Himashini Perera, Chairperson, SF Seva Vanitha Unit, Seva Vanitha senior members, officers and other ranks participated in the day’s events.
