The retiring Major General Pradeep de Silva, Director General General Services and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour salute at the Commando Regimental Centre on 15 January 2021. He also paid floral tributes to fallen Commandos at the Commando Regiment War memorial at Ganemulla.
Afterwards, he attended a sequence of events including group photograph taking, troops address, tree planting, interaction session with officers and also for an all rank lunch. During his address to the cross section of Commandos present, he emphasized the importance of maintaining highest mental and physical standards as Commandos in order to successfully perform entrusted tasks. Further, he extended his heart-felt gratitude for the good conduct of officers and other ranks during the period of his tenure as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Commando Regiment.
In the evening, the retiring Major General Pradeep de Silva was invited for a formal dining out at the Commando Officers' Mess with senior officers of the Regiment together with their spouses. At the termination of the farewell, Major General Pradeep de Silva was presented a token of appreciation by Major General Upali Rajapaksha and Mrs Anuja de Silva was presented a token of appreciation by Mrs. Subhashini Rajapaksha.
