Retired Senior Officer Builds Home for a Needy Family

The ongoing house-construction project of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ - W) received a fillip on Sunday (12) when one of the senior retired officers, gifted a new house to a needy family in memory of his late mother.

Major General (Retd) J.C Rambukpotha in close coordination with the SFHQ-W offered his financial sponsorship for construction of a new house to a desperate father of four children who are without a shelter to reside in the general area of Pahala Thanthirimale, Thanthirimale.

On Sunday (12), during a simple ceremony, the new house, comprised of a sitting area, dining room, bed rooms, kitchen, wash room and other utilities was vested in the family, amid religious observances. In addition, the beneficiary was gifted with essential household items, electric appliances and furniture by sponsors and their spouses at the same occasion.

Brigadier K.A.N Rasika Kumara, Commander, 213 Brigade coordinated the new construction and 5 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops under the guidance of the 213 Brigade and 21 Division offered their technical know-how for its erection. Major General Kumar Jayapathirana, Director General General Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff coordinated the initiatives when he was serving as the General Officer Commanding, 21 Division.

The donor, together with Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni, symbolically delivered the key of the house to the beneficiary.

The newly-constructed house for Mr Susantha Anura Kumara with four children who is undergoing economic hardships even without a primary shelter for the family comprises all the facilities such as sitting area, dining room, bedrooms, washroom, kitchen, etc.
