Retired Colonel Kasthuriarachchi's Remains Cremated

Colonel F. S Kasturiarachchi (Rtd) who was receiving treatment for COVID-19 at a Colombo Private Hospital passed away on Monday (6). The Colonel Commandant, including a few Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps represented the funeral adhering to COVID-19 health restrictions during the final rites at General Cemetery Borella on Tuesday (7) morning.

Colonel F S Kasturiarachchi (Rtd) was born on23 December 1923 and after completion of his school education, he joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet on 01 May 1952.He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 01 May 1952. During his illustrious military career, he rendered his services to the Army in different capacities. Some of the significant appointments among them were the SO II Army Pay & Records, Army Paymaster & officer in- charge, Officiating Commanding Officer, Ceylon Army General Service Corps, Overlooking duties of the Military Secretary.

Colonel F S Kasturiarachchi (Rtd) served the Army and the country with utmost dedication, displaying exemplary qualities as an officer and gentleman for over 26 years and retired from the service on 12 November 1978. His name and exemplary service to the Army will always be remembered. You will remain as a true son of Mother Lanka forever, states the Part 1 Order issued.
