Reserve Strike Platoon Course - No. 06 Culminates in a Ceremony

Under the directions of the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni, Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the course was conducted at Pampaimadu Battalion Training School, and concluded it on 20 September 2023.

The course comprised 07 platoons, composed of 05 Officers and 175 Other Ranks of the 21,54, and 56 Infantry Divisions.

The curriculum of the course included lectures and practical sessions on handling GPS, unarmed combat (UC), VIP/VVIP protection, the marksmanship package (handling of weapons with live firing), search and rescue operations, rules of engagement (ROE), Special Operation Procedures, Internal Security (IS) duties, and the Basic Swimming package.

The closing remarks for the course were delivered by Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, with the participation of the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division.

The Colonel General Staff of the Security Force Headquarters -Wanni, Colonel Administration and Quartering of the 56 Infantry Division, the Commanding Officers of the respective Battalions that contributed to the platoons, and the Chief Instructor along with all the staff of Battalion Training School Pampeimadu also took part in the event.

Among the accolades, the title of Best Platoon was bestowed upon the 3rd Armored Regiment, a testament to their exemplary teamwork and discipline. Lieutenant K.B.E.H.R Keppetiyagoda of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) was recognized as the Best Platoon Commander, showcasing exceptional leadership skills.

Corporal S.P.N.J Piyarathna from 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) was honoured as the Best Section Commander, a reflection of his exceptional command over his unit. Lance Corporal H.M.S.A Herath of 12 (V) VIR emerged as the Best All-Round Soldier, embodying excellence in every facet of military service. Corporal Subasinghe from 17 (V) SLLI was hailed as the Best Shooter, demonstrating precision and marksmanship while Staff Sergeant G.W.S.A Bandara from 2 Mechanized Infantry Regiment clinched laurels as Best Physical, attesting to his unmatched physical prowess.
