A THREE-member team of the JIKA organization, collectively responsible for construction of the bridge that connects Mannar town and restoration of Nanandan, Palampiddi and Pandivirichchan tanks with the coordination of government’s “Uthuru Wasanthaya” project met Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander Security Forces Wanni with the intention of reviewing the progress, hitherto made by Army de-mining teams in above areas.
The organization which has also undertaken laying of high tension power cables in the Wanni was interested in learning time-frame regarding removal of LTTE landmines and booby traps and also receipt of the continuing Army cooperation, etc during this meeting.
Mr. Akira Shimara Chief representative JIKA, Mr. Tsuneo Oishi, JIKA programme coordinator and DIG (Rtd) Camillus R. Abeygunewardene, Security Consultant JIKA were associated in this meeting with Wanni Commander.
