Renovated Volleyball Court for SFHQ-W Troops

A modified and renovated Volleyball Court Complex was declared open by the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W) at the Headquarters premises on Thursday (22). 

The opening ceremony was marked with an Inter Divisional Volleyball Tournament, organized by the 56 Division with the coordination and the fullest support of the SFHQ-W. 

4 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) emerged as the Wanni Inter Regiment Women’s Volleyball Champions for the year 2016. They beat 2 (V) SLAWC team during the finals after a close battle. 

Private W.A.S.U Fernando of 4 (V) SLAWC was adjudged as the Best Competitor in the tournament. 

The finals in men’s competition were held between Forward Maintenance Area - Wanni and 21 Division volleyball teams. After a close battle, 21 Division team became the Champions. 

Trooper, I.P.S Illangaratne of the 21 Division was awarded as the Best Competitor of the tournament. 

The ceremony was coloured with two dancing sessions presented by the 2 (V) SLAWC dancing team. 

Finally, an exhibition match was also played between Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force volleyball teams and the Sri Lanka Army volleyball team won the match. 

Major General Boniface Perera graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and awarded certificates and trophies. 

Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SF-W, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, officers and other ranks serving the SFHQ-W attended the ceremony.

Brigadier I.P Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division delivered the thanking speech before conclusion of the event.
