24 Infantry Division with the support of 241 Infantry Brigade and 8 Sri Lanka National Guard troops with sponsorship given by two philanthropists distributed a large stock of school equipment and accessories among 185 students learning at Ampara Wadinagala Vidyalaya on Wednesday (4 Oct).
The project, launched on a conceptual notion of the General Officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division, Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc was sponsored by Mr Wijitha Kulathilaka and Mrs Nishadi Kulathilaka at the invitation of the 24 Infantry Division and the 241 Infantry Brigade.
During the programme, the school received a consignment of much-needed school equipment and essentials along with the distribution of educational accessories among students. At the end of the programme, all students and teachers were entertained to a delicious lunch as a special treat since the school lies in a remote rural area.
General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division attended the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest, together with the Brigade Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers, 8 SLNG troops, donors and civilians in the area.
