Remaining Group of 4th CCC Contingent in Mali Returns Home

The second remaining group of the 4th contingent of the Combat Convoy Company (CCC) in the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) upon completion of their service tenure returned to the island on Tuesday (31 August).

Accordingly, 11 Officers and 62 Other Ranks returned home soon after the 5th CCC troops assumed their duties in Mali.

Major General S. Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 68 Infantry Division, Brigadier W.B.J.K Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Centre Commandant of Gemunu Watch, Brigadier G.L.S.W Liyanage USP psc, Director, Directorate of Overseas Operations with several Officers and relatives were at the Bandaranaike International Airport to receive the returnees.

The 4th Combat Convoy Company included 20 Officers and 223 Other Ranks, and the contingent was mainly composed of Gemunu Watch troops. They left for Mali on 23 May 2022.
