Religious Ceremony Inducts God Sumana Saman Statue

A religious ceremony, held recently at the temple premises of Gemunu Watch (GW) Regimental Headquarters at Kuruwita, saw a statue of God Sumana Saman inducted into the sacred place after the statue was donated by one Mr. K.C Pushpakumara to the GW as an appreciative gesture for the Army.

Colonel of the Regiment, GW Major General P.U.S Vithanage was present to receive the sacred object. Before it was brought here in procession, the statue was consecrated for a month at the Deraniyagala God Sumana Saman's shrine.

Amidst Pirith chanting by Buddhist monks from Siripagama Maha Mewuna Asapuwa, the statue was laid by the side of the Buddha shrine in the premises.

Mr. Weerawardhana Kadawathaarachchi, priest of the Paradise Vishnu Devalaya and Mr. Mahindapala Rathnasiri - Head Priest of the Deraniyagala Sumana Saman Dewalaya afterwards conducted offerings to the deity.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the occasion.
