The relic placement ceremony of the newly-built pagoda at Kiriibbanwewa Raja Maha Viharaya, Welioya took place on Esala Full Moon Poya Day (22) amid a large gathering of devotees.
Under the supervision of Army troops, construction of the pagoda was sponsored by Mr Tissa Kanishka Ranasinghe, a philanthropist.
General Officer Commanding, 62 Division attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. 593 and 622 Brigade Commanders, senior officers, members of 82 ‘Anandian Old Boys Association’ and villagers took part in the ‘Pinkama’.
