Rehabilitated Woman Combatants Interact with Army Woman Soldiers

The second round of the Socio Economic Welfare Coordinating Workshop, organized by 7 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) with the noble objective of learning the well-being and continued social integration of ex-woman combatants of the LTTE, resident in the Jaffna, was held at Kopay Christian College on Saturday (4).

The follow-up reconciliatory learning process, launched by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna wanted woman soldiers to interact with those rehabilitated females and inquire into their needs if they were to lead contended life with adequate sources of income.

A similar cordial meeting took place earlier with woman soldiers for the same purpose on the directions of Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J). Such interactive programmes contributed to the growth of mutual    understanding and co-existence as Tamil speaking woman soldiers exchanged views with them on various matters of their concern.

SFHQ-J Civil Coordinating Officer, Socio Economic Welfare Coordinating officer for those rehabilitees, Major Krishani Abeywickrema, 2nd In Command, 7 SLAWC, lady counseling officers and a few woman soldiers attended the meeting.

Towards the end of the programme, each attendee was gifted with a pack of vegetables and other essentials by Army woman soldiers.
