Reassuring Confidence, Jaffna Donor Enables Troops to Build Two More New Houses

Thanks to the continued generosity and reassuring confidence of the reputed donors, Mr and Mrs Mohan Shanker of Jaffna in the skills and frugality of the troops, troops of the Security Forces - Jaffna once again built two new houses for deserving families in Karainagar and Puttur areas after their miserable plights were conveyed to Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna through respective Grama Seva officials.

Both houses completed within weeks after foundation stones were laid were vested in the beneficiaries on Saturday (27) during separate warming ceremonies where Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku with donors graced the occasions as the Chief Guest and handed over the keys to respective beneficiaries, MrThampirasa Mathiyalagan and Mr S Sureshkumar amid Hindu religious rites and rituals.

Construction of these two houses also kicked off in line with the Army Commander’s vision to help the civil community by way of uplifting their livelihood standards and housing needs using technical and engineering skills of the troops in order to promote gestures of goodwill, reconciliation and harmony between the Security Forces and the civil communities.

Much-required manpower and technical support was generously provided by 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 15 Gajaba Regiment troops under the supervision of Commanders of 513 and 522 Brigades and respective Commanding Officers.

During warming ceremonies, a stock of essential household items and dry ration packs required for these houses were also gifted to the beneficiaries by the day’s Chief Guest. The same donor couple after coordinating with the SFHQ has been instrumental in providing all raw materials for such constructions in the past few months, keeping the fullest confidence in the troops over their skills.

General Officer Commanding of 51 and 52 Divisions, Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier Admin and Quartering of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, Commanders of 513 and 522 Brigades, Senior Officers, Government Officials, beneficiaries and their family members, troops of the Security Forces Jaffna were present during those inaugural ceremonies, adhering to all stipulated health guidelines and preventive formalities.
