Re-designed & Face-lifted Army Website Launched

The country’s most surfed defence website, www.army.lk has now been re-designed, face-lifted, re-structured and updated with all information in order to be more user-friendly and match with fast changing digital technology and needs of its surfers.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army at the request of Brigadier I.H.M.R.K Herath USP ndc psc, Director Media at the Army HQ launched the re-designed new website and the digital dossier of soldiers’ thoughts (Sebala Sithivili) this afternoon (15 June 2023) at the Commander’s office in the presence of several Senior Officers, including Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff, Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu, Chief Signal Officer, Brigadier I.H.M.R.K Herath USP ndc psc, Director Media, Colonel A.M.D.B Adikari RWP RSP psc, Colonel Media, Mr. Sisira Wijesinghe, Media Consultant, Lieutenant Colonel H.G.J.T Perera RSP, General Staff Officer 1, Directorate of Media and several Officers.

The completely-updated website, nearly after 10 years with the support of software engineers and technical staff of the Directorate of IT with no cost to the Army, has opened interactive pages for literary verses and thoughts of the Other Ranks at ground level for the first time. It also includes comprehensive details and information on all current security undertakings, UN assignments, establishments, training, civil-military projects, welfare, sports, Seva Vanitha contribution, etc.

A team of IT experts of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) including the Chief Signal Officer, Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu along with the Director, Directorate of Information Technology, Brigadier G.L.S.W Liyanage USP psc, Major W.P.S.D.P Patabendige, Major K.W.G.S.S Wijeratne psc, Major T.D Kankanamge, Captain T.K Ramasinghe, Captain A.W.A.L.A Amunugama, Captain V. Sudarshana and Lieutenant H.D.P Gunathilake contributed to the project.

Directorate of Media at the Army HQ meeting with aspirations of All Ranks and the general public in general, in addition to the maintenance of the official website (www.army.lk) publishes the fortnight news bulletin (Hamuda Puwath Desathiya), ‘Sebala Sithuvili’ dossier, Defenders of the Nation Facebook page, SL Army Youtube channel and interacts with Twitter and similar social media blogs and news platforms.
