58 Division Headquarters, based in Sinhawillawatta, Puttalam with the objective of lending a helping hand for underprivileged families, resident in remote villages, gave away a stock of school accessories, Magiboards for 10 pre-schools, garments, infant tricycles, books and shoes to a total of 77 students, including pre-school kids on Saturday (20).
UK based Association of Professional Sri Lankans (APSL), together with Mr Manoj Warnapala of Narahenpita, Colombo 5 sponsored the Rs 5 lakh worth gift items at the request of Major General Priyanka Fernando, Director General General Staff who was formerly the General Officer Commanding of the 58 Division HQ.
After inviting all those children to the 58 Division HQ, Major General Priyanka Fernando, Director General General Staff as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division distributed those incentives among the beneficiaries.
The brief ceremony was graced by Ven Kadawatha Dhammadissi Thero, Incumbent, Mahakonwewa Chittasamadhi Paramitha Temple and Rev. Fr Shehan Fernando, In Charge of Karuwalagaswewa Diocese as special invitees to the occasion.
