PTFDP Seeks Army Assistance for Drug Prevention Training

Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention (PTFDP) with the objective of further expanding the national drive to educate the student community on dangers of drug addiction, has turned to the Army seeking instructional assistance from Army Officers and Other Rankers.

With the concurrence of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West, 23 Officers and 43 Other Ranks were trained by the experts in the PTFDP during the full-day training session at the SFHQ-West in Panagoda on Thursday (25).

The PTFDP intends to use those trained Army personnel to be sent to government schools for lectures on the dangers of ‘drug addiction’ under a programme to be launched shortly in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

Prof Diyanath Samarasinghe, Dr Sanjeewa Rathnaweera and Mr. H. M Thilakarathne of PTFDP contributed to the training of Army personnel for this project, to be kicked off shortly.
