A representative gathering of medical and non-medical sector professionals during a special discussion, held at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) this afternoon (17) re-visited current strategic approaches in operation for arrest of further transmission of the pandemic and explored possibilities of fine-tuning the systems and improving them.
The session, attended by professionals in health, tourism, transport, education, business, etc was co-chaired by General Shavendra Silva, Head of the NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Dr Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services discussed at length about mechanisms and strategies in effect on quarantining, arrival of more and more expatriates, resumption of airport services, tourist arrivals, conduct of antigen tests and PCR tests, state-patronized quarantining process, isolation of areas, admission of positive cases, etc
The attendees closely observed existing strategic roles and moves, suggested ways and means to improve and overcome challenges or any loopholes, if any and sought recommendations for improvement or rectification of those lapses from those professionals present at the meeting.
