Two soldiers fall victim to LTTE's latest provocative act

In an apparent intensified attack on soldiers attached to Army intelligence unit in order to provoke Security Forces, five LTTE men waylaid and hacked two soldiers attachd to the Army intelligence unit in the general area of NUNAVIL, CHAVAKACHCHERI around 7.30 p.m. on 26th November 2004 while they were returning to their camp after duty.

Five LTTE men waiting in ambush had confronted those two Army soldiers and went on hacking forcing them to seek admission to the PALALY Army Hospital with bleeding injuries.

Both those soldiers have received serious injuries to their heads, limbs and faces. As the condition of the victims turned worse, they were air lifted to COLOMBO National Hospital

Troops have recovered one sword and live T-56 ammunition from the location during an immediate search.

This attack by the LTTE during their Heroes Week is the latest of LTTE's cowardly acts launched with a motive to provoke Security Forces.

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) was kept informed.

The CHAVAKACHCHERI Police are conducting investigations.
