Members of the President’s Guard in the practice of donating school books every year to needy students beginning the year 2007, commenced their annual humanitarian project on President’s birthday (18) at Meeriyabedda - Koslanda, by distributing school books among landslide-affected students, housed at relief centres.
Before the distribution of books began elsewhere, Major General C.P Gallage, Commander, President’s Guard, together with Brigadier H.D.G Ranasinghe and several senior officers and other ranks, awarded those stocks of books and school accessories to the students, housed at Punagala Tamil Vidyalaya.
President’s Guard since the year 2007 has been in the practice of distributing books and school accessories among students in carefully selected remote schools as a humanitarian project, initiated by members of the President’s Guard.
