Prabhakaran Guilty of Atrocities against His Own People

FORMER Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students (EROS) stalwart Arular Arulpragasam, who taught LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran the art of handling the AK 47 assault rifle said that it was high time for the LTTE leader to give up his struggle.

Arular Arulpragasam, a mechanical engineer who is currently domiciled in Britain was one of the pioneers of Tamil militancy in Sri Lanka.

In an interview with the Sunday Observer Arular said that the LTTE could not give leadership to the Tamils in Sri Lanka, and it is time the outfit should denounce violence and disband itself completely.

"There is no future for the LTTE as they have inflicted the maximum number of atrocities on their own people, he charged.

During the past three decades they had hardly done anything worthwhile to address the Tamil crisis politically.
They took the Indians for a ride and now they have deceived the entire world by scuttling the peace process initiated by Norway.

Commenting on his links with Prabhakaran, Arular said that in 1974 as a young militant cadre the LTTE leader was alone with him in his farm called 'Kannaddy' in Vavuniya.

"It was I who taught him the art of handling the Russian made AK 47 assault rifle".

"Prabhakaran in his so-called separatist war had done more harm to his own people in their socio economic and political spheres. He could not achieve anything beneficial to his own people.

However, with the near total annihilation of his outfit the LTTE Chief should give up his struggle and ensure the safety of his cadres. If he is further determined to continue his struggle, he will certainly face the same tragedy which Hitler himself faced eventually."

Speaking on the recent demonstrations held in support of LTTE in various countries, he said, that those demonstrators were manipulated by the LTTE henchmen without being aware of the ground realities. No country would ever take them seriously, knowing well who they are," he said. (Courtesy: Sunday Observer)
