Post-New Year Total of Positive Cases Stands at 77,765-NOCPCO

As of this morning (28), a total of 2,584 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 12 Sri Lankan expatriates and 2,572 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 429 from Colombo District, 415 from Gampaha District, 356 from Kalutara District and 1372 from different other Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By this morning (28), a total of 174,860 persons, have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. Among them 77,765 were reported after the New Year. 143,788 of them after recovery have left hospitals. The affected 28,336 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.

By Monday (28) morning (past 24 hours), 1,411 recovered patients have left care centers. 4 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country remains at 1,325 by this morning (28).

By Monday (28) morning, 269 persons have left 10 QCs. As of this morning (28), 5,676 persons in 65 hotels and tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

By this morning (28) at the time this communiqué was released, the number of isolated areas remains unchanged and movement restrictions that have been imposed would continue.
