A simple ceremony to give away school aids, scholarships and push bicycles to students and donation of books to the library at Poonewa Madya Maha Vidyalaya took place recently with the support of several donors.
Coordinated by Colonel S.B Kohona and Lieutenant Colonel K.R.S.P.K Kahagalla of the office of the Civil Affairs in Wanni, the simple ceremony saw two school students of poor families receive two push bicycles, valued more than Rs 16,000, donation of a large stock of books to A/L students and a wheelchair to a needy civilian in the area.
Distribution of those items was made possible by Ven Bellanwila Dhammarathana Thero, Advisor Buddhist library of Singapore, Drs Udeni Bandaranayaka and Mr Thisara Hennayaka.
