Polonnaruwa District Coordinating Committee for prevention of COVID-19 pandemic assembled at the District Secretariat at Polonnaruwa on Thursday (29) presided by the District Secretary, Polonnaruwa Mr. W A Dharmasiri and District Coordinating Officer, Major General Channa Weerasuriya, the Commander Security Forces - East.
The District Secretary and Major General Channa Weerasuriya had a lengthy discussion with government and health authorities regarding further measures to be taken in Polonnaruwa district in the face of the current 3rd wave of the pandemic and paid their special attention on taking prompt preventive measures during the upcoming festival seasons.
It was further emphasized the importance of coordination among Security Forces and government authorities to mitigate the present rapid spread of the virus and highlighted the requirement for increase of treatment centres and supplying of sufficient equipment such as oxygen cylinders, etc in case of an emergency.
Regional Epidemiologist Polonnaruwa and several officials attended the conference.
