Sri Lanka Police Headquarters this morning (25) extended a warm welcome to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva when he made his first courtesy call on the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr C. D. Wickramaratne at the Colombo Police Headquarters.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva on arrival at the main entrance was escorted to the premises by a fleet of high-speed patrol motorcycles before a senior Officer invited the visiting Army Chief to review the Guard Turn Out, presented by a group of Police Officers. It followed a Guard of Honour which saluted the day’s Chief Guest.
Lieutenant General Silva from a special dais afterwards received the highest honour after he reviewed the parade in accordance with traditions. A few minutes later, the Commander was ushered to the IGP’s office where the day’s distinguished guest was introduced to the Senior Deputy Inspectors General of Police working at the Police Headquarters.
The cordial discussions between Lieutenant General Silva and his host, Mr C. D. Wickramaratne that followed largely focused on general matters of security concern and the cooperation that prevails between both organizations.
Mr Wickramaratne at the end of the interactions presented a memento to the visiting Commander of the Army as a symbol of goodwill and understanding. The gesture was reciprocated.
