Philippines’ Defence Attaché Exchanges Views During Courtesy Visit to the Army HQ

Colonel Rolando Gomez of the Philippines Army, the Defence Attaché, Embassy of Republic of the Philippines in India, accredited to Sri Lanka and Maldives this morning (9) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at the Army Headquarters.

The visiting Defence Attaché is presently following the 5th Defence Attaché Orientation course in Defence and Diplomacy conducted by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

The cordial interactive meet led both Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and the Philippines’ Defence Attaché to exchange views on general matters of concern while recalling bonds of goodwill, cooperation and understanding that prevail between the armed forces of both countries. They also discussed possibilities of further enhancing training programmes for Sri Lankan Army personnel as well as the participation of the armed forces of both countries in different exchange programmes.

The formal meet culminated with exchange of souvenirs.
