Panagoda Cantonment Gets New Waste Recycle Centre

Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, extending its support for disposal of garbage collecting at the Panagoda Army Cantonment installed a waste-collection centre inside with possibilities for recycling garbage.

The unit, 'Sampath Piyasa' is to be manned by Army members of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) and is capable of collecting wastepaper, plastic and glass bottles, scrap iron and other waste materials before they are subjected to recycling.

On a conceptual notion of Hon Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister for Megapolis and Western Development Ministry sponsored the project at the invitation of the SFHQ-West.

Mr Javilal Fernando, Director for the Project, Mr Waidyasekara, Additional Secretary for Ministry of Megapolis, Mr Nimal Premathilake, Social Service Expert and Senior Army Officers took part in the inaugural ceremony at the SFHQ-West.
