Panagoda Army Hospital Ready for any Eventuality-NOCPCO

The routine Media interaction at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) got underway this afternoon (3), headed by Hon Minister of Health and Indigenous Medical Services Mrs Pavitha Wanniarachchi and Brigadier Chandana Wickremasinghe, Military Spokesman and Director Media at the Army Headquarters, Sri Lanka.

291 more individuals from Singapore were flown to Sri Lanka last evening (02) by Sri Lankan flight UL 303. They all were taken to Army-managed Quarantine Centres (QCs) for quarantine process, the Media was told.

By today (03), a total of 11,669 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QC have left for their homes. As of now, 5,243 persons are still in quarantine in 43 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.

Most of the Quarantine Centres are served largely by heroic Army personnel. All preventive measures have been adopted to keep them off from contacting the COVID-19 epidemic. However, in the event of any contracting as such, the Panagoda Army Hospital has been reserved and kept on ready for use.

By today (3) 40 COVID-19 positive cases were reported. Of them, 32 individuals have arrived from foreign countries, Qatar (27), Kuwait (3) Russia (1) and UAE (1).

Particularly, not a single positive case was reported from outside society milieu in the past 30 days. Likewise, of all 1682 positive cases, 510 are foreign arrivals.

By today (03), seven more heroic sailors of the Navy were confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus and the total infected stands at 763. Of them, 424 after full recovery and PCR tests were discharged from hospitals. A group of 339 infected heroic sailors are still under treatment in hospitals as of now, the Media statement ended.
