Pamunugama Rotarians Help Students at Army's Request

Pamunugama Rotary Club took school accessories, uniforms, shoes, t-shirts, sarees, bicycles and several other essentials for distribution among students, teachers and civilians, resident in 61 Division Headquarters area at the request of the Army.

The distribution ceremony of those items took place at Tharanikulam Ganesh Vidyalaya recently with the participation of Brigadier A Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, Brigadier K.G.D. Perera, Rotary Club members and a large gathering of civilians.

The stock of gifts included 25 push bicycles, 35 sarees, 300 sets of school accessories, 600 t-shirts, 310 pairs of shoes, 900 school uniforms and a few other valuable items, worth over Rs 1.3 million.

Sarees were distributed among school teachers and other gifts were given away to students of low-income group families. Senior Army officers and a large gathering witnessed the distribution.
