Pakistan’s Naval War College Undergraduates Arrive at Army HQ

A delegation of undergraduates studying at the Pakistan Navy War Collage (PNWC) currently in Sri Lanka on a five-day-long familiarization visit at the invitation of the Sri Lanka Navy as a part of their agenda called at the Sri Lanka Army HQ on Wednesday (2).

The 21-member delegation, headed by Commodore Syed Ahmed Ovais Hyder Zaidi SI (M), was welcomed by Brigadier Kapila Dolage, Director, Directorate of Training at the entrance to the main building before they were ushered to the office of the Chief of Staff.

On behalf of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Major General Vikum Liyanage, Chief of Staff at the Army Headquarters received the representative group of those delegates to his office, together with Commodore Syed Ahmed Ovais Hyder Zaidi SI (M).

During exchange of views, Major General Vikum Liyanage commended the cooperation that exists between both Sri Lankan and Pakistan Armed Forces for so many years and recalled friendly ties and bonds of goodwill that prevail. Major General Vikum Liyanage also gratefully acknowledged the training support, being extended by the Pakistan Armed Forces to the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and their participation in exchange programmes.

The Chief of Staff towards the end of the friendly interactive meeting awarded a few mementos to the delegates and wished them a pleasant stay in Sri Lanka.

After a while, Brigadier Kapila Dolage, Director, Directorate of Training during a separate arrangement submitted a visual presentation on the history of the Sri Lanka Army, its achievements, current roles and tasks and educated the visitors on the organizational structure.

This session was attended by Major General Nishantha Manage, Director General General Staff, Brigadier Shantha Ranaweeera, Director, Directorate of Operations and few senior officers.

The 21 tri-service delegation following the 51st Naval Staff Course at the Pakistan Naval War College (PNWC) is composed of officers from Pakistan, Indonesia and Myanmar PNWC and will stay in Sri Lanka until 5 March. They are scheduled to visit the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters, Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters, Defence Command and Staff College, Dockyard, Naval Museum and Naval Maritime Academy before they join a brief sightseeing tour.
