Pakistan’s Chairman, JCSC Warmly Welcomed & Presented Military Honours at Army HQ

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, HI (M), Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan (Chairman, JCSC, Pakistan) currently in Sri Lanka on a five-day long goodwill tour called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Friday (10) afternoon at the Army Headquarters.

The visiting Chairman JCSC, Pakistan was received by Colonel D.K.R Perera, Commander, Army Headquarters’ Brigade and was welcomed at the Army Headquarters in a formal military ceremony where General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, HI (M) was honoured in a smartly-dressed Guard Turnout in conformity with military traditions.

Seconds after that, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Adjutant General of the Army invited the Chairman, JCSC, Pakistan to accept the salute presented by the colour-rich Guard of Honour presented in accordance with formalities.

Afterwards, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army warmly received the day’s distinguished guest extending a hearty welcome at the entrance, and introduced him to the Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters. Together with the day’s protagonist, all those Senior Officers sat for a group photograph adding memories to the visit. After a while, he was accompanied along with the five member delegation to the Commander’s office for formal interactions by Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Military Secretary.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage during cordial interactions exchanged views on bilateral matters of concern to the Sri Lanka Army and the Pakistan Armed Forces. Discussions also focused on training modules, security in the region and other matters of general interest.

Adding significance to his visit to the office of the Commander of the Army, the Chairman JCSC, Pakistan left his compliments in the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s office at the end of the talks. Both military leaders, determined to foster their understanding and goodwill further afterwards exchanged mementoes and symbolized their cordial ties.

The Military Secretary was also associated with the discussions at the Commander’s office.
