Pakistan NDU Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on Army Chief

A delegation of Senior Officers studying at the Pakistan National Defence University (NDU) currently in Sri Lanka on a six-day long familiarization tour, as part of their curriculum made a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters on Monday (06 May).

The 15-member delegation, headed by Air Commodore Faisal Fazal Muhammad Khan was warmly welcomed to the Army Headquarters by Colonel M.T.I Gunawardena RSP psc, Overlooking Director of Directorate of Training at the entrance before they were ushered to the office of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army.

Afterwards, Air Commodore Faisal Fazal Muhammad Khan, Head of Delegation together with Brigadier Waqas Ali Khan, Faculty Member, Commodore Muhammad Kashif Farhan, a Military Course Participant and Colonel Muhammad Farooq psc, the Defence Advisor to the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka and Maldives met the Commander of the Army and had a cordial discussion.

During the exchange of views, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage gratefully acknowledged the cooperation that prevails between both Sri Lankan and Pakistan Armed Forces for so many years and underlined the need to further fostering bonds and exchanging more training modules.

Additionally, the Commander of the Army addressed training-related concerns, reflecting on prior assistance rendered in training the Sri Lanka Army personnel. This support has played a pivotal role in enhancing the competencies of Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army, thereby nurturing a culture of military professionalism. Furthermore, the Army Chief expressed gratitude for the generous contribution extended by Pakistan, which has significantly supported the transformation efforts in the Sri Lanka Army, driving it towards greater versatility and proficiency.

Towards the end, mementoes were exchanged between both parties as symbols of goodwill.
