Pakistan's Army Chief Returns Home

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani after completion of his three-day goodwill visit to Sri Lanka left for his country Friday (21) afternoon amidst warm greetings and memories.

His Sri Lankan counterpart, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya visited the VIP terminal at Colombo International Airport to bid farewell to General Kayani and Mrs Begum Zahida Kayani, the spouse of the Pakistan Military Chief.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, minutes before his Pakistan counterpart’s departure, presented him with a photo album, comprised of the memories of his three-day stay in Sri Lanka. General Kayani thanked Sri Lanka Army for its hospitality and warmth during his visit to Sri Lanka.

General Kayani, accompanied by Mrs Begum Zahida Kayani and a few senior officers paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Mr D.M Jayaratne, Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, High Commissioner of Pakistan, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral D.W.A.S. Dissanayake during his stay in Sri Lanka. The four-star General arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (19) with a six-member delegation.
