IT seems that remaining LTTE supporters and a section of Tamil Diaspora, now hell-bent on discrediting the Army and the Government of Sri Lanka were launching all out efforts to woo the International Community and disrupt post- war rehabilitation and reconstruction processes that are in full swing.
Those LTTE elements with the sheer intention of maintaining/gathering momentum for their humiliatingly defeated terrorist organization and reinvigorating its coffers appear to be re-grouping for street protests, demonstrations, public forums, renewed propaganda gimmicks, etc under the pretext of various ad hoc arrangements, some of which have been actively supported even by a few brain-washed European politicians. Those elements are engaged in finding ‘labels’ for the Army to suit their ulterior motives, meant to resurrect the partly defunct terrorist network in the aftermath of Prabhakaran’s death and arrest of their international figure, KP alias K.Padmanathan.
The latest ruse came to light with the telecast of a doctored video through the UK Channel-4 as recent as last week. The said news footage that claimed Sri Lankan soldiers executing ‘Tamils’ earlier this year went on calling for ‘human rights commissions and investigations into extra judiciary killings and so-called war crimes’.
The entire stage-managed footage, said to have been supplied by ‘Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka’, one such ad hoc organization hitherto unheard had been meticulously doctored as the UK channel-4 itself could not vouch for video’s authenticity.
LTTE and its proxies until the death of their terrorist leader practiced this machination both here and abroad shamelessly. Fabricated stories on alleged Army attacks on passenger buses, Sencholai orphanage, Kilinochchi Hospital, etc are a few examples to recite.
The UK channel-4 video footage surprisingly does not expose any of the persons holding guns at those ‘Tamils,’ nor does it show any ranks of the so-called ‘government troops summarily executing Tamils’. The fact that the telltale casual dialogue in the same vein has been done in Sinhala to give credibility to the manipulated video piece does not hold any water since this was not the first to have been dubbed by terrorists in this way. On the other hand no soldier would have used a mobile phone with such a broad resolution, to have been given to a media institute like the UK channel-4, more than three months after the terrorist leader was decimated.
However, the UK Channel-4 for best reasons obvious only to it has carried similar video news clips from time to time even when the humanitarian operations to salvage Tamils from terrorist grip were in full swing. Stories on IDPs, Interview with KP, Mannar girls, etc were among a few footages that were carried earlier by this Channel in sympathy with Tamil Tigers, for example. Therefore, the UK Channel-4 news footage was purely designed and manipulated to take the attention of the International Community into a new sphere of investigations. (Ends)
