653 Infantry Brigade troops of the 65 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Wanni organized a community project for donation of school accessories, worth more than Rs. 500,000.00 to students, resident in the area served by the Brigade on Thursday and Friday (June 15 &16).
This was made possible with the sponsorship, provided by an Australia-based philanthropist through the coordination of Brigadier D.N.C Serasinghe RSP USP, Commander, 653 Infantry Brigade.
Accordingly, 51 needy students at Periyamadu (East) Primary School and Kirisuddan Primary School on Thursday (15) received those school aids and incentives, distributed by troops at their respective schools.
In addition, 186 students representing Pumalanthan Primary School, Periyapandiwirichchcan Central College and Periyapandiwirichchcan Primary School belonging to low-income families also received school accessories at their respective schools on Friday (16).
Brigadier D.N.C Serasinghe RSP USP, Commander, 653 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel G.A.D.P Ganehiarachchi, Civil Affairs Officer of the 653 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in those events.
